360 for $350?

Two different ads have appeared online now suggesting that the Xbox 360 may get a $50 price drop. There is still no official word from Microsoft, but it’s looking more legitimate now. I could be just a summer sale being done by the individual stores competing with each other. But let’s hope it’s a permanent official price drop!

Shadowrun Already in the Bargain Bin

Shadowrun was in trouble before it launched. Not a lot of people were talking positively about the game, and those who cared about the Shadowrun franchise were just scratching their heads wondering why this wasn’t an RPG. On the console side, gamers unanimously agreed that no single-player and only 9 maps made this game not worth $60. On the PC side, it was only $50 but required Windows Vista AND and Xbox Live account if you wanted to be able to play along with people on the 360. The hopes of a PC Gamer fans getting to own a console player with the superior mouse and keyboard control for a shooter was dashed, as FASA made sure players on the PC didn’t have the accuracy they were used to in their shooters. Overall, this complex shooter had an uphill battle, and the team lead from FASA going onto podcasts complaining about the low review scores didn’t boost sales amazingly!
So I wasn’t really too surprised when I was shopping for games and saw Shadowrun already under the heading “discounted items” at Play-Asia.com. I think a game with cross-platform play between the PC and 360 will be great when its the right title. I don’t think this is the one to sell us on the idea. Hopefully Universe at War will do it right!
