Bioshock Scoring off the Charts

with 14 comments

bioshock

The anticipation that has been building for Bioshock was quite surprising. A new ip, and an original setting meant the team behind the game originally had trouble shopping the idea around to publishers. But these things are perhaps exactly what consumers want to see. Sequelitis had more than set in amongst gamers, it had become gangrenous. Plus Bioshock is the first big game of the upcoming rush that will be arriving. Between Bioshock and Madden, it’s time to bring on the games!

Then the demo hit, and the excited murmur rose to a clamor. But now review scores have started rolling in, and they seem to be telling a story of some kind of FPS second coming.

1UP : 10/10 “By the time it ends, you’ll likely feel quite different about how you interact with games, and more importantly, how they interact with you.”

IGN: 9.7/10 ” This game is a beacon. It’s one of those monumental experiences you’ll never forget, and the benchmark against which games for years to come will, and indeed must, be measured.”

Alternative Press: 5/5 “as it is one of the most original, haunting and memorable shooters to come along since Half Life.”

Eurogamer: 10/10 “BioShock is the ultimate rarity: not only does it live up to its lofty promise, but exceeds it through simple, old fashioned talent and imagination”

Game Informer: 10/10It’s ingenious, enthralling, and a masterpiece of the most epic proportions.”

Team Xbox: 9.5/10 ” It’s rare to find a game that has both quality in its engineering and quality in its gameplay. But BioShock is certainly that in a nice package.”

OXM Magazine (UK): 10/10What we can tell you is you’ll be playing this game for months to come”

PC Gamer (UK): 95% “Bioshock is a dark and astonishing masterpiece.”

… wow
